UWDCC Celebrates One Million Images

"In September 2005, the University of Wisconsin Digital Collections Center (UWDCC) digitized and published online, its one-millionth digital image. Since its foundation in early 2000, the UWDCC has worked collaboratively with UW System faculty, staff, and librarians to create digital resources that support the teaching and research needs of the UW community, uniquely document the university and State of Wisconsin, and provide access to rare or fragile items of broad research value. The UWDCC is extremely proud of this achievement and is grateful for the opportunity to share the accomplishment with colleagues and patrons, worldwide. The one millionth image (pictured above) "Harvest Time," by Lois Ireland, is an illustrative painting that skillfully presents Wisconsin's rolling hills, cobalt skies, regional agriculture, and rustic barns. The scene is likely familiar to anyone who has traveled Wisconsin's pastoral byways and magnificently reflects the people, land and products of rural Wisconsin. "
